Wasn't it a beautiful day yesterday? Only a week ago I was walking Toby in my North face coat in driving wind and rain. What a difference a week makes!
Yesterday we enjoyed a lovely sunny day and spent most of it outside. We started by organising the garden furniture, Chris has already prepared it by cutting the grass and re-staining the decking. All we had to do was organise the decking chairs and table, lay out our new garden bean bags, and set the patio bistro set up. The Boy's love doing jobs like this so worked very well together.
We finished this off with a nice alfresco lunch. Poor old Toby was puffing and panting. He is his own worst enemy as he won't sit in the shade but insists on sitting next to me in the sun. We decided he needs cooling down but because of his past cruel treatment in his previous home, he is terrified of hose pipes, so we decided to take him to Barley River.
It was quite busy when we got there, as it always is a sunny day but we found a spot on the stream bank and the Boys took Toby in to cool down. What I like about Barley is it is shallow enough for them to paddle. I always ask the Boys to stay in a spot where I can see them. And I know there is no strong current.
They spent ages ruining and splashing in the water, they even set the camera to quick burst a photographed Toby shaking water off his fur in bursts.
We had a wonderful hour, kids love the simple things in life don't they? It's not always about grand gestures and spending a fortune. But sometimes spending a bit of time with them and letting them get soaking wet running in streams.
We rounded out times at Barley off by getting an ice cream in the cafe, a Coffee for me, and Toby and nice bowl of cold water.

Welcome! As you say it's sometimes the little things in life that are the best. Your boys and Toby had a great time playing in the water and I'm sure Toby was very grateful. Thanks for linking up and sharing the fun with Country Kids.
