We recently enjoyed an idyllic day on the banks of
the River Avon. We had visited Stratford-Upon-Avon last year but had planned
lots, and left no time to just chill. The banks of the river looked just
amazing. So this year we decided to revisit and spend a day with a picnic by
the river.
We were so lucky with the weather it was just
glorious, we walked into town and had a little mooch around the lovely shops
and then headed to Sainsbury's to purchase our picnic. Once we found a spot
under a tree, which was half in the sun and half in the shade we set up our
little area.
It was so beautiful, having chilled family time,
the boys had the freedom to run around whilst we looked on. Watching boats and duck
going up and down the river. The boys started to get a little restless but then
discovered they could take photos in the reflections of their sunglasses and
went on to spend a good hour playing around with photography, it was great to
watch them exploring their creative side and kept them busy giving us a little
time to sunbathe.
Once they had exhausted this we decided to pack up
and hire a riverboat, I must say I wasn't over keen but went along with it. But
do you know what? I loved it, it was idyllic, and we hired a motorboat rather
than a rowing boat, as I had no intention of rowing when they all got bored. Trust
me this was a good move.
We spent half an hour driving up and down the River
Avon taking in the stunning scenery that Shakespeare would have enjoyed
hundreds of years ago. Chris did all the driving but did let the boys have a
little go for a minute or two each. Which they both loved, but I felt safer
with Chris in control.
I would definitely recommend this as day out; it
was such a stunning place to visit. Stratford-Upon-Avon is such a beautiful
town, which is extremely chilled out. We all had a wonderful day on the banks
of the river, and a wonderful few days in Stratford, and cant wait to visit
again.
Stratford is a lovely place to visit-we're lucky because it's so close to us and we pop over a lot, although we've yet to go on the river as a family. Looks like you had a lovely day.
