The Lovely Kate has set the topic of Laughter Therapy this week. I do believe the ability to laugh is such a great quality in
a person. I have met many people in my lifetime that have been such great fun
to be around. Before Jack was born I worked for quite a high profile hair
group in Essex, I remember my time there as being mad, some days my face used
to hurt for laughing, we used to laugh till we cried.
Chris the Boys and I laugh together all the time,
our home is like a mad house sometimes. We have great friends, and tend to
mainly socialise with the children tagging along. Now I am really thinking
about it all of our friends have great sense of humours, I can't think of one
single friend that we don't laugh in their company.
I must
surround myself with fun or mad people. I am so glad they are all around;
I look forward to spending time with them, as they never disappoint. I never
leave one of my friends thinking, god that was boring.
I defy anyone to not laugh at this video I found on u-tube
I also laugh a lot a work, my students are
amazing and make every lesson fun and I really believe if we have fun they
learn more, so I try to add funny video clips into lesson to lighten their
moods on a morning, or after a lunch break to get them in the mood to learn.
It’s funny no matter how grumpy they are, if I can make them smile I have their attention, then they can learn. You can't teach someone in a bad mood, they are not as open to new ideas. Some days our staff rooms rocks with laughter, not always, as there is so much to do, but we do laugh quite a lot.
So here are the lovely Kate's questions:

So here are the lovely Kate's questions:
When was the last time you laughed out
loud? What led to this?
Last night Chris was napping on the
sofa (he often naps on the sofa, if we have friends round I make everyone stay
in the kitchen as I don't trust Chris, as soon as he sits down he nods off) He
was talking total rubbish in his sleep; Joe and I were absolutely
hysterical.
What is the silliest thing you have
ever done? I just asked Chris that question, he
said he has a lot to choose from! I think because I am quite a passionate and
impulsive person I do silly things all the time, I just don't think, I jump
in feet first.
Ask your child what they would like
you to do that is really silly and see what they come up with and reveal all.
Joe said bungee of the Stratosphere in Vegas, he
knows this is never going to happen!
Jack said stroke a crocodile, he knows this is my biggest phobia, so again; never going to happen. They both said I am generally a silly person so they struggled with thinking of something silly for me to do that I hadn't done, hmmm. But do you know what I am glad they ee me as a fun person and not boring.
Is being daft part of your
relationship with your partner if any? I don't
know about being daft, maybe we are, I think we are normal. We do all laugh
a lot as a family, sometimes about stupid things. Chris gets frustrated when we
eat out because once the Boys and I start laughing we get hysterical and
just can't stop.
Who is your favourite
comedian/comedienne? When did you last watch or listen to them? I love John Bishop; the whole family thinks he is great,
we watch him whenever he is on T.V. I love the fact that he uses his status to
do great things for charity. The crazy thing is he was on the same flight as us
in August; flying from London to Manchester and was sat four seats away from
us. I was so star struck I couldn’t even look at him.
Part of me thought it
probably bugs him constantly being bothered. However people were saying hi and
having selfies with him and he was very gracious. I was so star struck I didn't even notice that the British Olympic swimming team was sat all
around us.
Who do you enjoy laughing with most? Chris and the Boys, we laugh lots. I just love laughing;
the saying is true; it is good for the soul.
How good are you at seeing the funny
side in challenging situations? Mmm this is
50/50 sometimes I am dead serious, but I try to make the boys see the funny side of
situations when they are angry. I try to get them to channel their anger into
laughter, I remember once Jack really upset Joe, I told Joe to imagine Jack
with 8 legs, he laughed and got over it very quickly. So now the boys always
try to turn situations round they see it as a challenge.
Great post! I love a good laugh too - my Hubby is quite funny (don't tell him I said that!!) and so we laugh a lot. It can be tiring day-to-day life but as you say it's a kind of therapy too that it much needed! :) x x
ReplyDeleteThanks Jess, yes it just makes you feel so much better doesn't it x
DeleteThis is a good post! Lovely to read about how happy you are, that's really nice & sort of inspirational. I want to be happy again :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Caroline, ah I do hope you will be very soon x
DeleteI enjoyed reading this post and I am so pleased laughter is a big part of your life both at work and in the home. I so wish you had hooked up with John Bishop and on stroking the crocodile well never say never!
ReplyDeleteYes Kate I should have been braver, and as for the crocodile the thought of it makes me feel ill x
DeleteI enjoyed reading this too, but was really struck by the statement "You can't teach someone in a bad mood, they are not as open to new ideas." I think there's a blog post in that too x
ReplyDeleteAh thank you, and yes I bet there is a post there actually x
DeleteYou sound a really happy family and I love your comment about teaching people when they are happy, I think it is so important that pupils have that kind of relationship with their teachers. Hope you have a lovely week x
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy, we are and yes I hope my boys have the relationship with their teachers that I have with my students x
