Boys, What Isn't in the Baby Manual

I am so lucky to have 2 wonderful healthy boys. They make me so happy on every level. Even their strops make me smile some times. However I really had no idea what I was getting into when I brought Jack home from hospital. Now I am not generalising, this is based on facts and experience of learning the ropes as a Mum with my 2 Boys. So here are the 10 things that no one ever mentioned when I brought my new clean baby boys home from hospital.

  1. They a genetically conditioned to find mud wherever it is. Its    like they have a built in homing devise in their brain.
  2. They never ever stay clean, especially at Weddings.
  3. No matter how much you tell them not to, they wipe their dirty hands all over their clean clothes.
  4. They are like Monkeys they climb everything. You need to have eyes in the back of your head. If not before you know it they are up a tree.
  5. They would watch police programme’s every day of the week if you let them.
  6. You can't fill them they are always hungry. No matter how much they eat they are still hungry.
  7. They run everywhere, it's exhausting, they do everything in fast forward.
  8. They are accidents waiting to happen, if there is a lamppost they will walk into it.
  9. It there is one piece of dog’s mess in a 3-acre plot, they will manage to not only find it, but also stand in it.
  10. If you ever trip or slip they will see it and won't let you hear the last of it.

What the manual also never told me is that I would learn to accept this, learn to love little boys and all that come with them. I would learn to climb, and actually like it. And become less stressed when I got muddy or, wet in the rain. As the boys say "it's only water".

Boys are wonderful, loving and loyal. However, I see it in the eyes of my friends that have girls, they just don't get it. They don’t get boys.
