The Windows Bus

A couple of weeks ago whilst on a college trip, Claire, Annette and myself came across the Windows Bus. We had no idea what it was all about but were ushered on by some very enthusiastic staff that offered us an ice cream at the end of tour as a reward, ha ha I know; aren’t we cheap dates.

We were at Alton Towers and it was a red-hot day; it was a great pitch to get you on the bus, and the promise of earning toppings for our ice cream was tempting. But firstly I have to talk about the bus; it was just like it had been a project on George Clarke’s amazing spaces. A favorite program, in the Christie household. It was cleverly kitted out with a kitchen, lounge and office area. It was really creatively designed to make the most of the space. 

The whole aim of the bus was to educate people on what you could achieve with Windows. Now I have always been in camp Apple, we have a Mac, I pads and I phones and could never imagine ever buying any other brand.  I love the Mac and it's capabilities, and the cloud syncing is just amazing. So I stepped on to the bus thinking, Mm I would take a look but there is no way they could ever change my Apple allegiance.

However I left the bus feeling very different about Windows, the PC above was similar to our Mac at home. The whole system was built into the screen, but in addition to that the screen was swipe sensitive, this is fantastic as it also. Had all great app features I especially loved the recipe app. You could choose a recipe and wave your hand over the screen to flick through the pages, this way you avoid touching your Screen or keyboard whilst cooking.

We then got to try out some education apps, and use the tablets, which again I was very impressed with. The response speed on the Lenovo tablet was great. It was very easy to use and the keyboard accessory built into a case was stylish. 

So in all the Windows bus was a great experience, Claire, Annette and myself;  all have relatively advanced PC skills. However we all learnt something new about Microsoft. And the strawberry sorbet was very welcome to cool down as we stepped off the bus. But most importantly it has helped to change my mind, I would definitely consider buying a product with Windows 8.1 now they may be different to what I am used to, but have some fantastic features. I still love Apple products but the Windows bus has left me made me more open minded about my options in the future.
