When we were in Barcelona we were lucky enough to
stay at the beautiful Hotel Cast Fuster. I spent ages researching to get
just the right Hotel. We wanted 5* as we were celebrating our 20th wedding
anniversary, and were leaving the boys in the safe hands of Grandma and
Granddad. We wanted a great location near to Las Ramblas, modern rooms, and a
roof terrace to sunbathe with a plunge pool, ha ha I don't want much do I?
I felt Casta Fuster ticked all those boxes so we
booked with ebookers, through Quidco and got 10% cash-back. This is a great way
to book hotels as Quidco gives cash-back on most hotel booking sites, so not
only do you get a great rate but you also get money back in your bank.
The hotel is located on Paseo de Gracia,
which is directly above las Ramblas, it is a modernist building built in 1908
by the Modernist architect, Lluis Domènech i Montaner. The hotel is surrounded
by, boutiques, high-end stores, lovely restaurants and bars. We checked in
at 8pm at night, the hotel reception were extremely friendly and offered us
lots of advise about where to eat and the surrounding area. The bellboy also
gave us lots of hints and tips as he escorted us to our room.
The room was beautiful, the bed two queens together
absolutely huge, which opened into a beautiful dressing area which lead on to a
marble bathroom hidden behind dividing doors. The room was spotlessly clean and
extremely comfortable.
It also had everything you could possibly need,
toothbrush, toothpaste, shoe polisher, toiletries, magazines. We needed an iron
so called reception and it appeared within minutes. Dressing gowns were sullied
in the bedroom, whilst there were also bathrobes and slippers in the bathroom.
A mini bar, plus fresh water supplied daily, and a turndown service with
chocolates in the evening.
The one thing missing was coffee. Now being a
person who can’t function without a coffee in the morning, I found this quite
difficult. But every thing else we could have possibly needed was available to
make our stay comfortable.
We had two balconies, and although we were on the
side of the hotel you could still look down to the street, if I stayed again I
would definitely request a room at the front, so we could enjoy the views.
The roof terrace was beautiful; and overlooked
Paseo de Gracia, it was wonderful sitting with a glass of wine and watching the
hustle bustle on the streets below. We also spent a couple of hours in the
afternoon sunbathing on the terrace, and I must say that plunge pool is a must
on hot august days, the service was great on the roof terrace and pleasant
friendly staff kept us stocked up with nice cold wine spritzers whilst we sat
in the sun reading a book in total tranquility. Not something you get to
do with kids in tow, usually I have one eye on each of the boys so never
totally relax.
We were a 20 minute walk from Las Ramblas, 30
minutes from Sagragada Familia, yes there are an abundance of taxis available
but you not get to see the real Barcelona from the back of a taxi. Whereas
walking you can stop and little cafes and restaurants and see the real
Barcelona. Walk down winding back streets and enjoy the shops along the way.
Would I stay here again? Yes definitely, there are
other places I would also like to stay in other areas Barcelona. Yet if I want
to stay at this end of town, Casa Fuster would be my first choice. The
service and facilities are exceptional, every single member of staff we
encountered was friendly and helpful and all this contributed to a wonderful stay.
