Creating Family Memories With 100 Years of Commercial Flights

When the lovely Brit Mums set the challenge to 'Celebrate 100 years of commercial flight with the #Flying100 Family Holiday Challenge' I was so excited. An excuse to think about holidays and travel, hoorah, I love travelling; it is my absolute passion in life. But then came the tricky part writing about my dream destination. Arghh, too much choice, I want to show the Boys the world. 

   

How could I possibly begin to choose, I go through this trauma every time I book a holiday, I just can't decide or pin point where in the world I want to go. I know this is an extremely lucky position in life to be in, to have these choices. 

Since the boys were born we have endeavoured to take them exciting, educational places for our family holidays. We love cruising as a family, we love waking up in a new country every day, the explorers in us can't wait to get off the ship and visit exciting historical places such as Pompeii or explore beautiful Cities such as Barcelona and New York. 

It also fulfills the adrenalin junkie and sports maniacs in the boys, they thrive on activities such as rock climbing, ice skating and surfing,  and spend hours on board skipping from one activity to the next.

When I saw this competition on Cruise.co.uk I just knew I had to enter, I just love the Sea it is so beautiful and peaceful. I could spend hours watching it, listening to the surf. I have a friend who is terrified of the sea; I just don't think she is seeing it for its real beauty. 

This photo was taken at Sea in-between Rome and Naples from our aft balcony onboard the amazing Liberty of the Sea's. It was a beautiful hot June day, but was windy on deck. The beauty of an aft balcony is getting to sit with a glass of wine and watch the sun set over the ocean. There really is nothing like it. Watching the colours, listening to the sound of the ocean and catching sight of the odd School of Dolphins.

One of the seminars I attended at Brit Mums Live highlighted the importance of using videos in blogging to highlight moments in time. Although a photograph does a great job at capturing moments, A video can sometimes create a bit more atmosphere. I am an extremely visual person, as a result I use lots of images. So have decided to have a practice with a video of Jack body boarding on the flow rider on the Liberty of the Seas last year. 

I suppose the beauty of the video is that I can show he was able to stay on the board where a photo could be deceiving being a second snapshot. 

So here goes wish me luck.

Wow it took me ages to work this one out, I am quite a technical problem but really needed to persevere. A valuable lesson learnt at Brit Mums Live. My very first Vlog complete.

A Day in Naples, Cruising with Royal Carribean

People have mixed opinions about Naples, I have a friend that would never get off the Ship when docking here, but I love Naples it is so beautiful, yes there is graffiti and litter, but every Italian town I have visited it like that.

I love the whole atmosphere of Naples, we have been 3 times now and every time we have gone there has been an event going on so there has been a real buzz in the air.

A Port Day in Rome.

One of my favourite places I have visited when cruising has to be Rome, Italy is the oddest of places beautiful scenery, fields and fields of sunflowers, hustle and bustle and graffiti.  I could not get over the graffiti when we fist visited Rome. How on earth could anyone desecrate such a beautiful place and why don't they clean to up? 

We have done a few tours of Rome but decided to go it alone last time, it was great have the flexibility to do and go exactly where we wanted to, without being ushered along by tour guides. It was easy getting the train it was a 5-minute walk from the port, and cost about 24 euros for the 4 of us. The train was comfortable and air conditioned, which made the 1-hour journey comfortable.

Our main aim of the day was to visit the Trevi Fountain, Chris's Lovely Granddad had visited Rome during the war and had always told the family that throwing a coin in the Trevi Fountains ensures you will one day re visit Rome, and the fountain. Unfortunately he was never able to this in his lifetime so we decided his great grandchildren would this for him.

Cruising with Royal Caribbean, Review

We have been on a 3 cruises with Royal Caribbean International, and have had some amazing experiences. I thought I would write an overview, with some hints and tips based on our experiences. We had cruised with Cunard and Princess prior to sailing with Royal Caribbean, and had thoroughly enjoyed each cruise; I don't think I can fault either.

The Liberty of the seas

We booked a cruise on Royal Caribbean as a friend recommended them, although it looked fantastic on the web site and in the brochures we were not prepared for how amazing it actually was. The first ship we sailed on was the Adventure of the Sea’s; we then went onto to sail on the Liberty of the Sea's.  As soon as we entered the arrivals lounge at the port the experience was exceptional, we hadn't experienced hospitality to this standard prior to embarking a ship before. Royal Caribbean had fresh cookies, and drinks to enjoy while we waited to embark, great when you have bored kids with you. Check-in was easy, the easiest we have ever experienced.
